Call to Prayer
Dear Spry Church Family and Friends,
I hope you are enjoying this beautiful weather! This week I'm sending out my update early because I want to remind you about an event scheduled for tomorrow. Thursday, May 3 is National Day of Prayer. Our Sanctuary will be open for a prayer vigil from 6am to 6pm. We will provide prayer guides with written prayers for you to reflect on and offer up to God. We will also have a station where you can write down any prayer requests and we will add those people to our bulletin prayer list and pray for them by name. All are welcome to come to our Sanctuary at any point during that time for prayer. I encourage you all to set aside some time on Thursday - whether by coming to church, at home, going on a walk, etc. - to pray for our nation and our world. Thank you for being a praying church. There is power in prayer!
This Sunday in worship we begin a series called "Followers and Leaders." Do you consider yourself a follower or a leader? Or maybe in some sense both? In any case, we can all find inspiration from an often overlooked section of the Bible, the book of Judges. This series will teach us how we can follow the Lord first and foremost and then, out of that relationship, faithfully carry out the various leadership roles we occupy in our homes and families, in our places of work, and in our community. By following the Lord, we become better people. My message on Sunday will include a powerful personal story that I believe will inspire you. You won't want to miss this. It is also a great opportunity for you to invite a friend or family member to come to worship with us.
See you Sunday!
