Yard Sale, Movie, and More
Dear Spry Church Family and Friends,
This is a big weekend at Spry Church! We have our Fall Missions Yard Sale today (Friday 8-6) and tomorrow (Saturday 8-1). All proceeds support mission work to enrich lives and extend the love of Jesus locally, nationally, and internationally. We hope you'll come and support this great community event!
Tonight (Friday) is our final Outdoor Movie Night of the year, featuring the 2018 hit movie Peter Rabbit. The fun starts at 7:30 with free refreshments and snacks. Bring a blanket or chair, invite a friend, and join us!
On Sunday our Fall Missions Offering will benefit HOPE International, which is where Pastor Luke and his wife Becky work. HOPE is a Christian faith-based nonprofit organization based in Lancaster with a truly international reach focused on alleviating physical and spiritual poverty through Christ-centered microenterprise development. All designated money received by September 30 will support this cause. If you're interested in giving, I encourage you to give above and beyond your normal giving to support God's work through our church, either by check or cash (and writing "Fall Missions Offering" or "HOPE International" on the memo line or envelope) or at SpryChurch.com/give.
Finally, someone sent me a link to an outstanding presentation that mentions The York Plan, which I've referred to in the sermons the last 2 Sundays as part of our "Deeply Committed" worship series. The presentation lasts around 45 minutes and is a really thought-provoking talk from 2016 on technology, manufacturing, and building companies and communities in an age of disruption. You can find it here. It's well worth your time, and it tells an aspect of our legacy as Yorkers that we can truly be proud of and can learn from today! By the way, remember to join us in The York Prayer Plan, a variation on The York Plan, which you can find below. This plan is all about us joining together to pray that we and those we love will be surrounded by and know the love of Jesus.
I believe in The York Prayer Plan because I believe in the power of prayer. Set your alarm for 3:14 each day (or another time) and pray with us. A praying church is a church alive. What could be more important than this?
See you Sunday!
